Rock & Roll, Seductive Boudoir, Dark Forest: DANIER Fall/Winter 2011

DANIER FW11 MENS

DANIER Fall/Winter 2011 Menswear

Last week, It’s All Style To Me was invited to a preview of Canadian designer Greta Constantine’s Fall/Winter 2011 collaboration with Danier Leather (click here for post).  The capsule collection named simply Skin, is one of three collaborations for Danier in Fall/Winter 2011.  Yesterday, I had a chance to see the entire Danier Fall/Winter 2011 Collection including the additional capsule collections by Mark Fast and George Antonopoulos.  The invitation of these three great talents to lend their interpretation to the DANIER brand further supports the brand’s efforts to showcase cutting edge and inspiring designs each season.

Designed with something in mind for everyone, Danier’s LOVE of LEATHER titled collection for FW11 is really composed of three sub-themed collections or releases.  Due out in stores this August, their first release is comprised of pieces that incorporate elements of the backstage rock and roll lifestyle.  I initially thought hidden condom pockets, accessories with secret cocaine compartments, and an inside pocket large enough to stash a mickey of scotch – not the case.  Leather jackets and accessories are accented with zippers, studs, and chains to give them that rock and roll feel.  The men’s outerwear is rugged with biker jackets with inner linings that have extravagant digitized city skyline prints.

Last night, Greta Constantine designers Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong unveiled their eagerly anticipated Fall/Winter 2011 Capsule Collection for iconic Canadian leather apparel label DANIER.  The launch of SKIN arrives hot off the heels of a successful Greta/Ezra Constantine Fall/Winter 2011 Collection that even had Fashion Television’s Jeanne Beker (click here for interview) beaming with Canadian pride.

Nestled amidst a sea of quaint crack houses, homeless shelters, and a liquor store that sees more action on Sunday than the local community church – Parkdale’s Neubacher Shor Contemporary Gallery hosted a modest SKIN launch in an impressive artistic oasis of a space.  Whatever you do, just don’t lean on their outside walls.  My wool/angora knit cardigan was covered in red brick residue and enough DNA samples from the wall deposits of vagrants’ bodily fluids to keep a CSI lab busy for weeks.
