Rock & Roll, Seductive Boudoir, Dark Forest: DANIER Fall/Winter 2011

DANIER FW11 MENS

DANIER Fall/Winter 2011 Menswear

Last week, It’s All Style To Me was invited to a preview of Canadian designer Greta Constantine’s Fall/Winter 2011 collaboration with Danier Leather (click here for post).  The capsule collection named simply Skin, is one of three collaborations for Danier in Fall/Winter 2011.  Yesterday, I had a chance to see the entire Danier Fall/Winter 2011 Collection including the additional capsule collections by Mark Fast and George Antonopoulos.  The invitation of these three great talents to lend their interpretation to the DANIER brand further supports the brand’s efforts to showcase cutting edge and inspiring designs each season.

Designed with something in mind for everyone, Danier’s LOVE of LEATHER titled collection for FW11 is really composed of three sub-themed collections or releases.  Due out in stores this August, their first release is comprised of pieces that incorporate elements of the backstage rock and roll lifestyle.  I initially thought hidden condom pockets, accessories with secret cocaine compartments, and an inside pocket large enough to stash a mickey of scotch – not the case.  Leather jackets and accessories are accented with zippers, studs, and chains to give them that rock and roll feel.  The men’s outerwear is rugged with biker jackets with inner linings that have extravagant digitized city skyline prints.

Out this September, will be Danier’s seductive boudoir collection.  This glamorous side of Danier FW11 shows hints of lace, ruffles, and rich jewel toned patent leather in both outerwear and accessories that work well with the 70s-glam Gucci FW11 Ready-To-Wear pieces and next to any man wearing Ermenegildo Zegna’s FW11 Asian-inspired Collection.  Not to give the impression that men are left out, the label also introduces complimentary secret agent inspired outwear and accessories including a stunning belted vintage-treated tanned leather jacket, a slick black leather trench coat (haven’t seen those in a while), and elegant black wool overcoat with leather accents and a removable fleece-lined hoodie.

Lastly, scheduled for October release is the darkly adventurous forest collection.  Think casual faux-shearlings on pigskin and plaids that echo a mix of British sensibility and the Scottish Highlands with an equestrian twist.  Men, if you’re into Hugo Boss Orange or John Varvatos, you’ll find a quick appreciation for Danier’s pieces coming out in the October release.

In addition to the LOVE of LEATHER designs and the Designers for Danier initiative, the brand will once again see the winning looks from their annual Danier Design Challenge with Ryerson University sold at select retail locations this fall.  The 2nd annual competition showcased the next generation of Canadian design talent, resulting in the top two garments by runner up Jessica Tep and winner Andrea Dineen to be available in store Fall 2011.

Since 1972, premier leather manufacturer and retailer, DANIER Leather Inc, has been providing its customers with the finest quality and workmanship at a price that affords exceptional value. For over a quarter century this iconic Canadian brand has grown to over 90 stores across Canada and into a household name.  DANIER Leather Inc. goes beyond their design, manufacturing and retailing expertise with a continued commitment to supporting community and charitable organizations such as United Way and Plan Canada.
