Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week – Day 4

NYFW Day 4

NYFW - Day 4 :: Click Here for Photos

February 13, NYFW Day 4 – I didn’t attend any fashion shows on Day 3 of Fashion Week.  Instead, I dedicated my time towards working through a backlog of New York Fashion Week photos and videos.  As a result, there’s a post now up on Marlon Gobel and Buckler.  Saturday also gave me a chance to briefly switch gears from fashion to contemporary art.  It’s All Style To Me was invited to a memorial and celebration of the late Alexander McQueen, hosted by Depesha Magazine & CATM Chelsea Gallery.  Perhaps less a tribute and more a clever marketing ploy to reel in the fashionistas, the event was really an opening for pop artist Anton S. Kandinsky’s, La Roulette En Rose.  For event photos click here.

Day 4 began with trip out to Exit Art in Hell’s Kitchen to catch the highly anticipated and rather monastic Simon Spurr Fashion Show.  It’s All Style To Me was invited to the show, in good company no doubt – present were Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Bergdorf’s Nick Wooster, and The Sartorialist himself – Mr. Scott Schuman.  More on the collection in a later post.

After the show, I headed back to the Lincoln Center where I took some candid street style photos for some really interesting people.  I’ve been meeting some really cool journalists, photographers, bloggers and last night, a former potential Haitian presidential candidate, Mr. Wyclef Jean en route to Tommy Hilfiger.  “What now?” I asked him of his presidential campaign that was recently kiboshed by Haiti’s Electoral Council.  “Ah, maybe in five years,” he replied, sounding disappointed.

The final show of the night was New York based Malaysian designer Zang Toi’s, House of Toi FW11 collection.  The atmosphere was electric and the crowed gasped before erupting into applause with each glamorous gown as it made its way down the catwalk.  Real Housewives ‘star’ Jill Zaran walked the show and curtain call with Toi, as Ramona Singer cheered her on with the rest of her fans in the crowd.  The night wasn’t quite over yet as many of us walked over to the Time Warner building to catch what was left of the Bloglovin’ Blog Awards After Party.  Free cocktails for everyone!  Those Swedes sure know how to party.  For Day 4 photos please visit my Facebook page.
