LCBO Classic Cocktails Featuring Mad Men Fashion Designer Janie Bryant

It was all about classics last night, as the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) held an invitation-only Mad Men inspired cocktail party at The Carlu.  Downtown Toronto’s historic 1930s landmark was a beautiful backdrop for the launch of LCBO’s Classic Cocktails promotion.  Many of the twenty-five classic cocktails were featured at the event, including the Manhattan, Old Fashioned, Rusty Nail, and my personal favourite of the night – the Moscow Mule.  The bartenders were slick, well dressed, and mixed each drink to absolute perfection.  Wait staff also came around with cocktails and classic appetizers such as deviled eggs and sweet & sour pinwheels.  Guests, glitterati, and socialites were elegantly dressed in some amazing Mad Men influenced attire.  They chilled to the soothing sounds of a live jazz band, slowly working the room, taking in the ambiance, chatting with old friends and making new ones.

The highlight of the evening was the arrival of special guest Janie Bryant, the fashion/costume designer for the AMC hit TV show Mad Men.  It’s All Style To Me sat down with Janie, on a very comfy leather Art Deco couch I might add, and asked her how the average guy like you can incorporate a little of that 1960s Mad Men style in a modern contemporary way that works.  Janie explained that grey, black, or navy slim-fit narrow lapelled suits with flat front trousers are essential to pulling off a winning look.  Janie also recommended complimenting your suits with white dress shirts, skinny belts, and narrow ties.  Accessories such as vintage or monogrammed cuff links, collar pins or tie bars, and fedoras are added bonuses.  For more with Janie, click on the video above and for photos of last night’s event please visit the It’s All Style To Me Facebook Page.

LCBO’s Classic Cocktails promotion takes place in 616 stores across Ontario starting this weekend until February 26, 2011.  For more information, drink, and appetizer recipes please visit www.classiccocktails.ca.
