Day 4 of Paris Fashion Week saw French fashion heavyweight Dior take the stage…or tennis court rather. Kris Van Assche’s latest collection, shown on a converted indoor tennis court decorated with chandeliers and fireplaces, resembled the interior of an art gallery or Parisian apartment.
“It’s all about fluidness,” stated the 44-year-old Belgian designer, about a look that was minimal and comfortably loose-fitting with hints of 90s influenced style. Debuted by DSquared2 and included in a few other shows, the dreaded Amish hat reared its ugly head once again. The monochromatic Dior collection consisted of blacks, charcoals, light greys, and a tip of the hat to the colour of FW11 – motel red.
One would assume that there are people out there who would appreciate the jackets with the thin lapels, the baggy pleated pants, and overall cold minimalist feel of the collection. I for one can’t say I’m one of them.
