Jean Paul Gaultier Men’s Collection Fall/Winter 2011

Ever the showman, for his FW10 collection Jean Paul Gaultier surprised the audience last year with a boxing match themed fashion show complete with a real boxing ring and two female boxers. Insert Andy Kaufman joke here.
The FW11 collection was shown in Paris yesterday and it was clear from the invitations, that Gaultier had 007 on his mind. The opening sequence to the show featured ninjas scurrying around performing somersaults to a remixed/dubbed version of the opening theme to James Bond.
Bond, Bond villains, and a even a Bond-girl care of Andrej Pejic, the prettiest man alive – were all part of a collection that featured a mix of classy Bond tuxedos, man-skirts, men’s fishnets, and neoprene scuba pants (didn’t we see these in Milan?). Black, white, and gold dominated the catwalk and although a lot of the items were kind of out there, some pieces were wearable. The various funky quilted pants and jackets, the finely tailored peaked lapel tuxedos, and even some of the more refined scuba pants with well placed ascents of padding were big hits and look great for a night out on the town. Another great job Monsieur Gaultier.
