January 19, 2011 2 Comments
Celebrating its 13th year, Toronto’s Interior Design Show kicks off at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre next week. Shauna Levy and her team have curated an exceptional roster of trail blazers from across Canada and around the globe to headline the event. Highlights of the show, which will run between January 27-30, include a debut Canadian lecture from internationally acclaimed designer/architect Jean Marie Massaud. Massaud will talk about his experience working with Chanel and Dior, as well as his award-winning collaboration with Glas Italia.
American Pritzker Prize laureate Thom Mayne (UofT Graduate House, Toronto and Caltrans District 7 Headquarters, Los Angeles) will also be there, as will British-born designer Michael Young (PSi Tower, Hong Kong). Other attractions to include the Sibling Revelry Challenge, where Canada’s most creative siblings will partner to transform 600 sq. ft. spaces into unique designs and the Casey House fundraising campaign involving the auctioning off of customized Vitra Panton Chairs. Celebrity guests to include Sarah Richardson, Steven & Chris, Massive Change’s Bruce Mau Design, famed industrial designer Karim Rashid, Toronto’s 3rd Uncle, and the local fashion design stars of Greta Constantine.
They’re anticipating over 300 exhibitors and tens of thousands of visitors this year, so it promises to be a great show. I’ve thrown some of the designs that I’m looking forward to seeing in the montage above. For more information please visit the IDS11 website at www.interiordesignshow.com.
