The Rainer Spehl Wooden MacBook Pro Case

I’ve never been a fan of laptop sleeves over laptop briefcases or messenger bags. They tend to look bad for starters and haven’t seemed to offer much if any real protection to your laptop. Given the current state of aviation today such as its evermore stringent carry-on restrictions and extra baggage charges, perhaps the laptop sleeve warrants a second look?
I can say that it’s probably a lot easier to sell me on one that looks as cool as Rainer Spehl’s. Made of wood, lined in leather, and featuring a hinged top with magnetic closure, the design comes in three sizes that are made to fit your 13″, 15″, and 17″ MacBook Pro. As a former marketing manager, I see the corporate branding opportunity by way of wood burning a logo onto the top or side of the case – a big bonus. It also looks like a great conversation starter on those long waits at the airport or commutes on the train.
Not sure where or if there is a handle or lock for this. After a quick trip to IKEA, I’m sure I could pick out a nice polished cabinet handle to drill into the top/side and throw on a small hinge and lock for the opening. Pricing is €240 to €260 + shipping at RainerSpehl.com.
